So as an avid fan of soul / funk / disco classics from the 70’s and early 80’s, I felt the desire to enhance my collection this past weekend by going on a quest for some new tunes. Well turns out the joke was on me as after my endless search (which turned up some decent tracks) I noticed some strange behavior on my PC. I was privileged to experience various popups trying to sell me antispyware apps, my explorer wouldn’t load on startup, etc. I proceeded to run a virus scan with my Symantec AV client and a thorough scan with spyware terminator. Neither was any match for the culprit that attacked my system, however I did learn that what had taken up residence on my system was the “Vundu” virus.

After searching for about 15 or so minutes, I found a forum which claimed that Vundu could be eradicated with an application named Malwarebytes. Sure enough, I installed the app, scheduled a full scan, and was privileged to see that Vundu had been evicted from my already shakey system. My advice to anyone with Vundu is to get a copy of Malwarebytes ASAP.

On average, in any year’s time I get sick with a cold about 7 times a year. Oddly, I have not been sick in a couple of months and I am speculating that it is a result of the following:
I am undergoing imunnology. That is another term for allergy shots. I get injected with things I’m allergic to and over time my body builds up immunity to the allergens.
Also made some lifestyle changes. For starters, I began drinking 16 ounces of Ito En brand green tea every morning. I buy the big jugs of the stuff from the Japanese grocery store, and pour 16 ounces into my camelback bottle to take to work. Next, I take one multivitamin a day (I take Men’s “One Daily” from vitamin shoppe). The other thing is, I stopped drinking cow’s milk. Notice, I still eat dairy, such as yogurt and low fat cheese. I just don’t use cow’s milk in my protein shakes, or in my cereal. I have replaced it with plain flavored soy milk. Next, I drink 85 ounces of water a day. I run to the urinal repeatedly, but I am constantly in flush mode.
Needless to say, I will not be changing anything in my routine as long as the colds stay away!

For anyone who doesn’t know, I have pretty bad allergies. I am sensitive to mold, grass, trees, hazelnut, ragweed, cats, and a host of other things. So I have been doing this form of allergy treatment known as “immunology”. It’s where you visit the allergist once a week to receive a shot containing the many things you are allergic to in the hopes that your immune system builds up resistance to the allergens over time. For me, my arms swell up pretty bad at the site of the shot, and a swollen lump travels downward on my arm for the next several days. Yeah, it’s pretty gross. I got my shots yesterday and my arm is in swollen mode right now. The interesting thing about this for anyone thinking of doing this treatment is that the swelling after the several weeks I’ve been doing this is not as bad now as it was when I first started. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Received a response from the office of Senator Frank Lautenberg regarding the inauguration tickets I’ve requested for the 12/20 swearing in of Barack Obama. The response looks auto generated and indicates that during the week of the inauguration, I will be told if tickets are available or not. At this point, I’m siding on the idea of not going to DC at all during the inauguration ceremony. I anticipate that DC from a traffic and crowd perspective will be an absolute nightmare.
